(Forgive the intensity of the reviews, see this is what happens when my editing team doesn't get them!)
LORD OF THE RINGS: I absolutely love this movie! I can't wait to see Two Towers! From the time the movie started till 3 hours later when it abruptly ended I was on the edge of my sit with my jaw dropped to the ground! I couldn't believe how close to the book the movie really was and how in dept the characters became throughout the storyline. The graphics were amazing along with character development! The eleves were bangin hot! And the balrog! Must I go on! I rate this film a 10 out of 10! The best film of the year!
BLADE II: Totally awesome! It was great if not better than the first! Special Effects kicked ass along with the soundtrack. Tell you one thing the vampire killers were straight scurry!!! I give it a 8 out of 10.
SCORPION KING: This movie can definitely get thrown in the "GOD DAMN CHEESY MUMMY MOVIE" pile. (Damn, try to say that ten times fast!) I wanted to ask the directors,"What made you decided to use all your budget on CGI, instead of some real actors?" Well, I guess we will never know. As for "The Rock", baby your hot, but you can't act for shit! I rate this film a 3 out of 10.
RESIDENT EVIL: The only reason that I went to see this movie is cause it had to do with a video game and the hot chic from "Fifth Element" was in it. I also love zombie films. Well, lets just say I wasn't very impressed. The zombie's were scary but after 10 minutes they just get annoying! Also, another draw-back was that the mutated dog-like creatures from the video game where only in the film for like two seconds!!! And that was the best part! Ahhhh! What is happening! I give it a 3 1/2 out of 10.
SPIDERMAN: I have to say I was extremely impressed with not only the graphics but the characters themselves. For example, Superman weither he was Clark or Superman still looked hot! Spiderman on the other hand started out looking like a dork and wasn't really attractive till you saw his real character and how kind hearted, sweet, and sensitive he really was(Women would notice this more than men of course). I bet you five bucks that everyone cried at the end! God can't wait until the sequel! I give it a 9 out of 10.
MINORITY REPORT: I think that Tom Cruise looks hot as usual but the film reminded me of a Outer Limits episode. I like the graphics and the idea of the story but when Tom was working what I call the "mystery murder machine" he looked like he was swatting away invisible gnats or flies. Some of the scenes were predictable (spoiler ahead); like part where the political official recieved a vintage gun as a gift at a ceremony, right way I knew he was going to take the gun and shoot himself. What do you know? It happened. Well, I rate the film a 4 1/2 out of 10.
HALLOWEEN RESSURECTION: Well, I must ask...how many times can you remake the same film? Well, Halloween can answer that for you! Eight to be exact! I hosted the Baltimore debut of the film and could barely believe I sat through the whole thing! They did surprise me though when they killed off Jamie Lee at the beginning...opps...hope that I didn't ruin it for you! Seriously, wait till if comes out on cable. I give it a 3 out of 10.
GOLDMEMBER: I went to see the film debut in New York City with my manager Bill and a close friend Tom Cho.(caution:spoiler ahead)The opening of the film was the funniest but I have to say Austin's mojo kept me laughing hysterically. It was such ridiculous slap-stick comedy I couldn't help but laugh! The budget was bigger this time and you could certainly tell! Beyonce' played an exceptionally sexy diva with lots of spunk! I'm sorry but when Stephen Spielberg starts doing flips I couldn't stop laughing for 10 minutes. I rate this film a 7 out of 10.
SIGNS: (caution: another spoiler ahead)The film opens with intense music but that is definitely NO forshadowing cause it was extremely boring at times. The best parts were when the alien's hands come out of places and grab people. It went so slow that I could go to the bathroom, refill my popcorn and soda and call my mother and it would still be on the same scene. The story reminded me of a farmer's point of view during the "Independence Day" film. There was some comedy relief from the little girl but not enough to keep you from falling asleep. Some parts were good and some were "ehh" so I rate it a 5 out of 10.
FEAR DOT COM: It is currently 3:15am and I have just returned from Muvico Egyptian Theater where I hosted the premier! This film was sooooo bad that I had to get online asap to post my worst review of all time!!! This movie sucked, the plot sucked, the acting sucked, even the evil entity made abosulutely no sense! I would not recommend spending your hard-earned money on such a pathetic film! I HATE 'Jeepers Creepers' but I have to say it was better than this shit! I rate it 0 out of 10. Dear God what are these producers thinking!!! THE RINGaccommodation in Bruges: This is my favorite film of the year! I absolutely loved it! Yes, the ending itself wasn't exactly the best but I have to say it scared the living shit out of me! The images are disturbing and have you looking over your shoulder when you leave the theater! The director did a wonderful job and the infinite symbolism in the film is amazing... pay close close attention to this one and you'll see all the subliminal imagery that they do in the film just for the audience...Enjoy and happy nightmares!!!! I rate this one 9 out of 10 on the scary meter!!!!
 | CONVENTION REVIEWS: Pittsburgh Comicon: Pittsburgh, PA (OCT 12 & 13th, 2002/ www.PittsburghComicon.com) This was a fun but slow convention. I enjoyed seeing Tom Savini, Buck Rogers, and Mike Kaluta...not to mention the many other artist and followers of the genre :) It was a great con for my comic book card collection cause I found many that I was missing :) They also had a discounted Lady Death statue that I couldn't resist picking up :) Portugal hotelsI also had the pleasure to meet Damion of "Shattered Realm" comic and Robert writer of "Seasons of Rot" a collection of short stories. The con that will be happening in April is one of the biggest they have! Thousands of genre fans will swarm the isle ways of this thriving conclave! But that is in April...I will admit the show was very slow but these guys know what their doing :) I also attended Tom Savini's Haunted House which I have to say was the best one I have EVER been to! I felt dizzy at times with the strobe lights and virtual tunnel! If your in the area drive the distance for this one! It's impressive!! Well, stay tuned for the next con reviews :) xoxo, Alexxus Young Cinema Wasteland: Strongville, OH (OCT 4-6th, 2002)http://www.cinemawasteland.com/)
Howdy folks!
Well, I just so happened to drop in on this conclave for the entire weekend. I didn't have a table but showed up just for fun of it! I was chilling with the guys from Horrorsource.com getting webcam shout-outs from Tom Savini, Michael Barryman, and Reggie Banister to open our online horror show 'One by One'. I have to say it was pretty funny cause no one could get the name of our show right! I asked each of them to say, "Your watching One by One the Kick-Ass Internet Horror Show"...well you have to stay tuned to the show to see exactly what they said. (GO TO: http://www.horrorsource.com )
It was totally awesome to see each of them again! One of the celebrites that attended, which I haven't had the pleasure of meeting before, was Connie Mason (62 Playmate, starred in '2000 Maniacs' and 'Blood Feast'). She was a sweet-heart! Of course I saw my usual friends Steve Sally and his dad selling old vintage movie posters. I couldn't help but grab the 21x28 of 'Horror Hotel' and 'How to Make a Monster' from them! The con was smaller and more intimate than what I am used to but I had a wonderful time! I stumbled upon William Castle's last film called 'Bug', playing in one of the small theaters, which was rediculously stupid! William what were you thinking?!? Well, Geof and Billy Bob, my Horrorsource buddies, made this weekend possible so I would like to give special thanks to them!
As for the con...? I recommend attending cause I am sure that you will have a great time! Well, for all you convention groupies I will see you at the next gathering! Take care and ciao!
