Sci-Fi Diva, LLC. Press Release
I'm negotiating the release of my book, "Drive-In Specials," for a summer 03' debut (publisher McFarlane & Company is among the prospects). The book is a chronicle of the B-film commerce tailored for the "passion pits": a surfeit of actresses, indelibly linked to the drive-in trade, recount their career and behind-the-scenes contretemps including the late Rene Bond (INVASION OF THE BEE GIRLS), the late Cheryl Rainbeaux" Smith (MASSACRE AT CENTRAL HIGH), the late Zoe Tamerlis (MS. 45), Marla English (THE SHE CREATURE), Helga Line (HORROR EXPRESS), June Wilkinson (MACUMBA LOVE, PRIVATE LIFE OF ADAM AND EVE), Mary Woronov (DEATH RACE 2000), Frances Raines (BAD GIRLS DORMITORY), Jillian Kesnar (RAW FORCE), et al. The ensemble includes the voluptuous vamps of Hammer horror: interviews with Ingrid Pitt (THE VAMPIRE LOVERS), Caroline Munro (CAPTAIN KRONOS, VAMPIRE HUNTER), Valerie Leon (BLOOD FROM THE MUMMY?S TOMB), Barbara Leigh ( the first flesh incarnation of VAMPIRELLA, she was cast in Hammer's aborted adaptation of the character), et al.
In the boys club: the late Mark Haggard (THE ALL AMERICAN GIRL), Sam Raimi (SPIDERMAN 2002), Tobe Hooper (TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE), Herschell Gordon Lewis (2000 MANIACS), Jack H. Harris (THE BLOB), Andy Sidaris (MALIBU EXPRESS), Russ Meyer (THE IMMORAL MR. TEAS), Alex Gordon, Fred Olen Ray, Jim Wynorski, et al. Bonus: recovered personal correspondence from the late Robert Bloch, author of PSYCHO, who recalls the censorship of his scripts as well as scenes that wound-up on the cutting room floor.
I actually volunteered to be cast in a couple of low-budget (horror/sci-fi) movies. As a result, I'm transplanting all behind-the scenes tales into the book's linking narrative. I will also include personal artwork of Hammer's femme fatales.
