News | From the Marketing Desk: Search Engine Update of 05/02
| Google: This search engine is a rising star. Since it works by relevance and accepts free requests for listings, Net2Business can still offer a great degree of success in optimizing your key words and phrases for this site. Something new has been added. They call it AdWords. This is a way to buy position with a legitimate key word.Your ad is shown off to the right in a little box. It works very much like the KeyWord auctions, but Google limits the bidding war.
| YAHOO! Still the standby, this directory has corrupted its search by taking money every way it can. If you were fortunate enough to get listed 2 or more years ago, when listings were free but very slow, you probably want to practice benign neglect. Changes and updates of commercial sites, just like new listings, are now only considered at $299/year renewable. And remember - you are not promised a listing for the nonrefundable fee, only consideration. Underneath the directory which was the original YAHOO!, web site listings are now gathered by Overture and ordered by the price the owners have agreed to pay-per-click. Down to 50% of users and falling.
