| |  | The Chief Executive of AIM is Alison Wenham and she has three full-time staff working with her. AIM members are represented by the AIM board and the committees (covering various aspects of the music business) which report to the board. BOARD The Board consists of AIM's Chief Executive and fifteen member representatives, elected by members on a one member, one vote basis. At each AGM one-fifth must retire by rotation (longest serving first) and are not allowed to stand again for 12 months. This enforced change is part of the ethos of AIM and is unique amongst trade bodies in the music industry. It prevents the organisation becoming institutionalised. The board is chaired by Alison Wenham, with Peter Quicke as vice chairman. COMMITTEES AIM has a number of committees specialising in: International - which mainly focuses on penetration of overseas markets, trade fairs etc. Marketing - whose remit is business issues within the UK, e.g. charts. MCPS - dealing with MCPS negotiations Business & Legal Affairs - top industry lawyers and business affairs experts negotiate and monitor developments on behalf of the AIM membership. Government Affairs - dealing with lobbying on behalf of the indepedent sector Training, Education & Mentoring - pan industry initiative Membership - which deals with member benefits and promotion of the AIM brand. US Committee - US music business excecutives involved in the UK Music Office project All committees consist of members and other experts, according to their particular areas of interest and expertise. AIM's internal network provides an opportunity for a unique communication flow between members. Their suggestions and comments on AIM, as well as their input in the mapping of its future goals, are crucial to the association's development. FULL TIME STAFF Alison Wenham Alison is Chief Executive of AIM, and Chair of the board. Alison sits on all of AIM's committees and works with the board to determine AIM's strategy and direction. Alison was head of the independent label Conifer Records for 20 years, before moving it to BMG, and working for 4 years as MD of their Classics and Jazz divisions. Gavin Robertson Gavin is Musicindie's General Manager. Musicindie is a separate company with the remit of creating a shared system infrastructure to serve the independents and their markets and to handle the Internet Trials. He was previously R&D manager at the MCPS/PRS Alliance.Before then, he was director of a record label and music publisher for six years. Remi Harris Remi is AIM's project manager , with responsibility for Training, Education and Mentoring initiatives for AIM members. She also works on Marketing (Increasing opportunities for labels in the media and at retail); Big Wednesday; our Independent Music TV Show Project; and AIM's Labeldata project (Label administration software). Judith Govey Judith is the Membership and International Manager, and also looks after our 'Friends of AIM Scheme'. She sits on the international committee, and is the main point of contact for members. Judith also co-ordintates member benefits and the AIM AGM. She has worked in the record industry for over 15 years in retail buying/marketing. Michael Fuller Michael Fuller is AIM's Head of Legal Business Affairs. He sits on the Business and Legal Affairs Committee, which examines legal issues, and offers general legal information to members. He has over ten years experience providing general commercial services to a number of artists and independent labels, as well as project managing several independent music industry research comissions for a variety of clients. |
